The Book Club last Wednesday had a lively discussion on “The Reader” by Bernhard Schlink. This story, set in postwar Germany, of a young boy befriended by a woman who later turns out to have been a concentration camp guard provided many topics of conversation, both of the book itself and the wider consequences in our society today.
The next meeting of the Club will be on Wednesday 24th February at Marie Milne’s at 8.00p.m when we shall discuss “Shanghai Girls” by Lisa See.
